The New Inn has been operating as a pub in one form or another for hundreds of years and now we go into the next phase of its life. Post lockdown, things inevitably will be different (and not just our new kitchen team). Below is a link to our new operating procedures but we do ask you to be patient with us. As we and pubs all over the country now rush to finalise plans before reopening on the 4th, please remember that not a single member of staff is an expert in disease control or politics. The policies we have put in place is based on our best understanding of government guidelines. These are in place to keep our staff and customers safe while, hopefully, making those who are more vulnerable to feel comfortable enough to return.
So if 20 of you show up to finally go out together for the first time after 3 months of lockdown, we're going to have to turn you away and it will fall on our bar staff to tell you. When 8 of you try to book a meal because you've not seen your family for 3 months, it's not the manager's fault group sizes are limited so don't demand to see them and tell them they're wrong. No, we can't just move some tables together. No, we can't turn a blind eye.
We have limited booking slots to 2 hours because we have had to reduce the number of tables in the pub and we would like to give the opportunity to the most number of people to enjoy the pub in the sunshine. We will need you to vacate the tables promptly as we will need time to clean and sanitise every contact service between sittings
As a nation, we are having to rely on the "common sense of the people" so PLEASE remember that when pubs aren't exactly how you remember them or hoped they would be.
Things will get back to normal, just not straight away. Our procedures will continue to evolve, but in the meantime, we thank you for your patience. We are all in this together!
